Alba Print E-mail

Alba is a town of Piedmont, in the province of Cuneo. It is considered as the capital of the hilly area called The Langhe, of which it is the capital. It is famous for the production of truffles, peaches and especially wine. Also the great food industry Ferrero was founded and still exists there. The origin of Alba is Roman, as demonstrated by the tracks of the original polygonal form that includes the old wall, the remains of some buildings you can still visit, appreciating the style of construction with marvel and mosaics.

Alghero is a town of about 42,000 inhabitants In the region of Sardinia. It lies in the province of Sassari in the North-western Sardinia.

Aosta Print E-mail

Aosta is a city of 35,000 people, capital, main centre and unique province of the region Aosta Valley. This is a town of great historic interest for its monuments and could be considered an open-air museum of Roman remains, unusual in the region. It is situated exactly in the middle of the region, in the plan where the river Dora Baltea flows. Over the town Mounts Becca and Emilius dominate the valley. The river Buthier crosses Aosta from the North to the South and is one of the main affluents of the river Dora. The so called Megalith Area of Saint Martin de Corielans, an archaeological site of the Stone Age, will become one of the most important tourist place in Aosta since 2013, when it will open to the public. The Arch of Augustus was built by the emperor after the foundation of the city in 25 b.C. and represents the Roman domination with the Porta Praetoria, the East entrance gate of the old Roman city, the theatre and the amphitheatre.

Ajaccio is a French commune, prefecture of the department of Corse-du-Sud, and head office of the Collectivité territoriale de Corse (capital city of Corsica). It is also the largest settlement on the island.

Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Ajaccio in 1769 in the Casa Buonaparte, which is now open to the public. Other dedications to him in the city include Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport.

Assisi is a town and comune of Italy in the Province of Perugia in the Umbria region, on the western flank of Monte Subasio.

It was the birthplace of St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan religious order in the town in 1208, and St. Clare (Chiara d'Offreducci), the founder of the Poor Sisters, which later became the Order of Poor Clares after her death.
